Check it out...

Way back when in January 2009, I had the opportunity to do hair for a destination wedding at Sundance Resort up Provo Canyon.

Here are the results as pictured in Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine Winter Issue.

{First disclaimer... even after several emails with the magazine, they still only put hair by Platinum Studio. I promise you, it was me.}

{Second disclaimer... the photos on the website of the wedding when the couple are on the ski lift were taken the day after the wedding, I won't take credit for that hair, there was a wedding night involved...}

Long, Lucious, Locks

Reader Question:

I would love to ask you a hair question. I have never colored my hair, it is naturally curly, but I straighten and blow dry it everyday. I am trying to grow it out but I get split ends really bad on the bottom of my hair and I feel like I am constantly cutting off the bottom so that my hair is healthy, therefore getting no where as far as growing it. I use Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner that is designed for parched hair. Do you have any tips for me or products that would be good for my hair to keep it moisturized and healthly while I grow it? I know I shouldn't straighten it everyday but I feel like I have no other choice. I would love some help please!!

xoxo-Meg

Excellent question Meg. You are doing great things for your hair by getting regular trims and using good shampoo and conditioner but I would suggest a few additions to your hair regime and also a subtraction.

Additional Products:
Sealed Ends by Schwarzkopf Bona Cure
This product helps prevent split ends before they happen. So get a good trim and use this when hair is wet, before other styling products and focus on the ends of the hair.

Buff by Schwarzkopf OSIS and Marrakesh Oil by Earthly Body
These products will give you a small amount of hold and control and a lot of smoothing. Styling products need to be used to add a layer of protection between your hair and the blow dryer and to help control the hair.

Subtraction:
Wash hair less.
I am a strong proponent of making your style last more than one day before washing it again. There are many benefits to "multiple day" hair.
1. Less blow drying and other styling
2. Less color fading (when applicable)
3. Natural oils protect the hair
4. Less time in the shower, water conservation
5. Less time getting ready in the morning, who doesn't love that?

All of these recommendations will aid in the process of growing your hair out, because they will keep it healthy, protected and strong. Be patient, your Long, Luscious, Locks will come.
